3Delight for Maya is a fully integrated Maya plug-in that lets you render Maya scenes using the powerful 3Delight renderer.
A wide support of all native Maya geometry, lighting, shading and FX features is provided,  see Limitations for more details on what is currently unsupported.

Compatible with Maya versions 20112012201320142015 on all 64bit platforms: Mac OS XWindows and Linux.

The plug-in is designed to be easy to use and integrates all the features needed in modern pipelines:

  • Full Path Tracing Global Illumination
  • HDRI Image Based Lighting (IBL)
  • Physically/visually plausible materials
  • Area Lights
  • IPR Re-lighting
  • Network Cache for textures and archives
  • Sub-Pixel Displacement (analytic)
  • Subdivision Surfaces (analytic)
  • Powerful render passes/sets system
  • Multi-Light Output (per-light AOV of any component, of any light path)
  • Multi-Masks Output (output of object/material masks)
  • EXR File Output
  • Deep EXR Image File output
  • Caustics (via Photon Mapping)
  • Ability to choose REYES algorithm (typically for lower pixel complexity projects)
  • Ability to choose Point-Based Global Illumination algorithm (typically for lower pixel complexity projects)
  • Multi-Camera rendering (Stereo is the case with 2 cameras)
  • Outline rendering with shading component detection
  • Embedded powerful image viewer: I-Display

The plug-in utilises the powerful features of the 3Delight rendering engine:

  • proprietary high quality environment sampling
  • Physically/visually plausible BSDF Evaluation via RSL, featuring:
    uniformcosineoren-nayarblinnashikhmin-shirleycook-torrancewardglass-ggxhair
  • Transformation/Deformation Motion Blur with support for topological changes
  • RSL1.0 / RSL2.0 Shading Language (with fast JIT evaluation)
  • Procedural Geometry (on demand)
  • Full geometry support, without any tessellation, of polygonssubdivisionNURBScurvespointsimplicit surfaces
  • Massive instancing of geometry with tiny impact on memory footprint
