By default, a Render Pass node is created with all possible attributes. It is possible to add or remove attributes or whole attribute groups from any Render Pass. Removing attributes can be useful for hiding the complexity of unneeded attributes and reducing visual clutter. It is also useful when inheriting other render passes' attributes (see Inheriting Render Pass Attributes).

When rendering a Render Pass that is missing some attributes, 3Delight for Maya will inspect the Render Pass hierarchy (if one is defined) looking for the missing attributes. If no hierarchy is defined, or if no Render Pass in the hierarchy contain a given attribute, its default value will be used.

Add / Remove Attributes...

Adding or removing attributes is done through the Add / Remove Attributes... button at the bottom of the Render Pass interface. Clicking this button brings up the Add / Remove Attributes window (see The Add / Remove Attributes Window); it is possible to add or remove whole attribute groups using the check boxes in the upper section of that window. The lower section lists every attribute available; this is useful to cherry-pick single attributes for addition or removal; attribute groups also appear in that section and are addable and removable.

Alternately, right-clicking the Add / Remove Attributes... button displays a pop-up menu tree. Each attribute in the menu has a check box to indicate its presence in the Render Pass. Clicking an item will add it or remove it from the Render Pass. Clicking on one of the All menu item will add or remove all of the attributes listed under it.
